Tips and Trip

Tips and Trip doesn’t want you to forget all those little places you discovered n your vacation:

The idea is pretty straightforward: on any vacation, there are always big ticket items you’ll remember forever — say, visiting Disneyland, or the hotel you stayed in. But most trips are made up of lots of little discoveries, nifty places you really liked and would like to see again. Tips and Trips is about those.

Adding a tip is a very slick process: just start typing the where and what, and the site automatically starts figuring out where you’re talking about. You’ll see a Google Map, and if anyone else has ever tipped it, be pointed to their entry so you can add to it. You can add a message, rate it, give it a cost range, and upload photos — standard stuff, really, but it works well. And of course, there’s the requisite iPhone app, too, so you can save places on the spot.

I love the aesthetic of the site. While there are a few rough edges, the layout works well, and the display of tips — tiny bits of information overlaid on photos — is just fantastic. I’d love to see this one take off.
