CookUp Books lets you create personalized books for your kids:
It’s actually a very interesting idea: you start off with a pre-made book and then personalize it by changing text and adding your own pictures. When you’re done, they print it and mail it to you. Voila! Before you know it, you’ve got a book that’s customized for your kid. They have quite a few books to choose from, although they’re all a bit simple.
I think CookUp Books is off to a good start, but I can see some room for improvement. In particular, the book printing isn’t described very much, and there are no photos of the finished product. Their current price point ($10 per book) is too low to make me expect professional-grade quality, but that’s exactly what I’d want from something like this. They’d really do well to partner with Blurb or another on-demand printer and begin offering a higher quality level for those who’d like it.
Follow these folks at @CookUpBooks and wish them luck with getting kids into reading.
